On Christmas Eve, the municipality of Averøy reports a new case of covid-19 infection.
– The person is in isolation and close contacts are in quarantine. The infection case originates from the ongoing outbreak in the Atlantean upper secondary school. Monitoring of the infection is already underway and the outbreak has the potential to be extensive, writes the municipality of Averøy in a press release.
Increase readiness
So far, ten people have been infected after the outbreak at Kristiansund Upper Secondary School. More than 200 people are in quarantine and both testing and infection monitoring are in full swing. Crisis management in the municipality has decided to increase emergency preparedness to yellow. This means, among other things, a higher recommendation for the use of face masks.
It will include visits to institutions
The municipality of Averøy also presents new advice on visits at Christmas.
– We strongly recommend that visits to institutions and nursing homes be carefully considered this Christmas. Digital visits are the safest.
In addition to the Atlanta high school outbreak, the City recalls that there is also a significant risk of import infection from visitors this Christmas.
Now there are young adults who are infected in the county
Fear of “home for Christmas” will crown Norway
It is no longer primarily guest workers and seafarers testing positive in the county, but visiting young adults. Einar Nilsen fears that all trips will lead Norway to an infection situation more in line with Sweden and Denmark.
– Families who have now received their homes / visits from highly infected areas, should take extra precautions. We also remind you of the recommendation of the national authorities to limit social contact and meetings, “writes the municipality of Averøy on its website.
Three infections in Smøla
Smøla municipality reports three cases of infection on Wednesday. These are also related to the outbreak in Atlantean upper secondary school, as well as people in the same household, the municipality indicates.
