Starting in the New Year, Hurtigruten Norway will simplify the route plan along the Norwegian coast. There will now be the same arrival and departure times throughout the year for the 34 ports between Bergen and Kirkenes, Hurtigruten reports in a press release.
Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, Hurtigruten Norway has had to minimize the operation of scheduled traffic along the Norwegian coast after the customer base disappeared. Starting in January, traffic will intensify significantly.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications and Hurtigruten have signed an additional agreement that guarantees that the traffic increases both in the number of ships and in the number of calls. As of January 2021, the 34 ports along the traditional route between Bergen will call approximately every other day.
– This is incredibly good news for the entire coastline, for local passengers and cargo customers, and not least for several hundred seafarers who have been mired in uncertainty at home. It will be great if more colleagues work, says Hurtigruten Group CEO Daniel Skjeldam.
