Republicans stopped major crisis controls on Americans

Democrats and Republicans in Congress this weekend agreed to a new $ 900 billion crown crisis package. Among other things, the package gives many Americans a crisis check for $ 600.

President Donald Trump did not approve the crisis package, saying that the amount should be increased to $ 2,000.

This caused Democrats to cheer, and when the House of Representatives met on Christmas Eve they proposed increasing the amount by sending the proposal directly to President Trump.

This put an end to the Republicans.

“Today on Christmas Eve, the House of Representatives cruelly deprived the American people of the $ 2,000 that the President agreed to support,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement.

“If the president is serious about the direct payment of $ 2,000, he must ask the Republicans to stop getting in the way,” he added.

Pelosi also promised to convene the house Monday to approve the change.

It can have serious consequences.

President Trump did not explicitly promise that he would veto the package approved in Congress this weekend. Also, there may be enough support for the package in Congress to override a veto.

Yet further delays could have dire consequences for millions of Americans and American businesses fighting for the measures. Also, there will be no additional support for vaccine distribution.

Since Congress has linked the crisis package to blanket state funding, it could lead to a shutdown of the state apparatus on December 29.
