Trump with 26 new pardons – VG

The White House says the president has pardoned a total of 26 people, while three people have had their sentences reduced or canceled.

Including former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and President’s friend Roger Stone. Both are linked to Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s involvement in the US election campaign.

Donald Trump has previously pardoned three others who were convicted in connection with the Mueller investigation: former security adviser Michael Flynn, former adviser George Papadopoulos and attorney Alex van der Zwaan.

Manafort has been convicted of various charges, including conspiracy against the United States and obstruction of the investigation by influencing witnesses and lying to the FBI.

Roger Stone was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for lying to Congress, obstructing the investigation and threatening a witness in the Russia investigation.

– The clemency will help you rectify the injustice you have experienced due to the Mueller investigation, writes the White House, also emphasizing that they believe Stone has been treated very unfairly.

In July this year, Trump changed Stone’s sentence so that he would not have to serve a sentence, but he is now pardoned by the president.

Additionally, Trump has pardoned Charles Kushner. In 2005, he was convicted of 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and influencing a witness. He served his sentence in 2006.

Kushner is the father of Ivanka Trump’s husband and adviser to President Trump, Jared Kushner.

On Tuesday, the White House announced that Trump had pardoned 15 people and reduced or eliminated the sentences to another five.

Just before Christmas 2016, Barack Obama pardoned 78 people and changed the sentence to 153 people. That, according to USA Today, is a record for one day.
