Trondheim is considering stricter measures – VG

Traces of infection have revealed that in some settings there is a lot of party, and that there are plans for this also at Christmas.

For this reason, the presidency has called an extraordinary meeting for this Tuesday.

– They must adopt a regulation to toughen up if an application is not enough. If it does not improve, we will introduce stricter restrictions on the Christmas space, Health and Care Director Helge Garåsen tells VG.

He says that through tracking infections, they have discovered settings that plan extensive social contact at Christmas and that people do not show up for tests.

– Indications at parties

On Tuesday, Trondheim recorded 44 cases, which was another short-time record for the number of infection cases recorded in a single day.

– We also have indications that there have been parties with many people recently, and that they may have created large outbreaks of infection, says Garåsen in the press release that the municipality sent on Wednesday.

Here it is claimed that infection tracking has revealed disturbing conditions and that too many people care little about infection control.

– What kinds of environments are the parties involved in the party?

It seems like it’s a complex environment in the 20-50 age group who get together for fun and party, Garåsen says.

The municipality does not know how many there are.

– Track common infections

– We are finishing up, and it will probably take some time. We call and talk to people. The infection tracking we do is fairly common, says the care manager.

The press release states that surveys of people who tested positive give the municipality reason to believe that despite the strict rules, many people behave as if there is no pandemic.

Garåsen says they have reason to believe the behavior will continue until Christmas.

– Some have also been abroad without being quarantined when they return. They are said to have been to Ibiza, among other places, he tells VG.

The municipality has not yet contacted the police with a view to stricter enforcement.
