A large apparatus has been put in place to investigate the police shooting in Bergen on Monday night. A 39-year-old man died after being shot by police.
A witness told TV 2 that two shots were fired. The head of the special unit in western Norway now confirms that the 39-year-old deceased was alone when the shots were fired.
– The incident took place in the hallway of the front door of the deceased’s apartment. There were four policemen involved in the situation, says Ellen Eikeset Mjøs from the Bureau of Investigations, which is leading the investigation.
Four suspicious policemen
Police said Tuesday that the 39-year-old man had a knife in the situation that caused the shooting.

The four police officers are already or will be questioned by the Special Unit on Wednesday and have the status of suspects.
From what TV 2 understands, all four are under suspicion of serious bodily injury that resulted in death.
Getting to the bottom of the matter
The head of the special unit in western Norway says she wants to express her condolences to the bereaved.
She says the investigation will continue in full effect through Christmas, and that holiday crews have been called in to work on the case.
– This is a case that has had a deeply tragic outcome. The special unit puts all the necessary resources. This is a case we’ll get to the bottom of, says Eikeseth Mjøs.
The county doctor is investigating
On Wednesday, NRK reported that the county doctor opened a case after the incident. According to TV 2, the deceased had been in psychiatry.
Yesterday, Police Chief Kaare Songstad described the case as tragic.
– On behalf of the police, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the survivors of this case. It is terribly sad that someone dies as a result of something the police do, but we know that from time to time this can happen, Police Chief Songstad tells TV 2.
