It appears in the weekly report of the National Institute of Public Health for week 51.

– The situation in Norway is unstable, with many ongoing outbreaks and the risk of further spread of the infection during Christmas, writes FHI and continues:

– Energetic efforts must continue to reduce the spread of infection and it is important that municipalities across the country remain prepared to quickly detect and control outbreaks at the local level.

Increases more among adults

So far, 2,900 cases of infection have been recorded last week, which represents a 7 percent increase over the previous week.

Oslo and Viken accounted for 59 percent of infections last week. The municipalities have 189 and 178 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 50 and 51 respectively. In Nordland, the number is 16, which is the lowest in the country.

Infection is highest in the 20 to 39-year-old age group, which had 73 cases per 100,000. Then followed the age groups of 40 to 59 years and 13 to 19 years.

870 cases of infection were recorded among people born outside of Norway. At the top of the list of countries of birth are Somalia (109), Iraq (67), Eritrea (58) and Poland (48).

Fear breaks out at Christmas

Health authorities have made no secret of fearing that there may be a further increase in infection during Christmas and New Years.

– Now we go into Christmas. It is a time when people are very in touch with each other. There is also a lot of contact now in the Christmas fever. Unfortunately, we can probably see the repercussions of a bit on Christmas and New Years, and we are concerned about that, assistant health director Espen Nakstad told NRK in the morning twig on Christmas Eve.

– The most important thing now is that municipalities that have an increase in infection are way ahead in the shoe and follow where the infection is and test and track infections very actively at Christmas too, Nakstad said.

Twelve new deaths

According to the report, a total of 413 crown-related deaths were recorded in Norway on Sunday. Twelve of them took place last week.

– This is almost a reduction in half compared to the previous four weeks, but it is too early to tell if it is a real decrease, as later records of deaths may occur, writes FHI.

So far, there are reports of 82 new patients at week 51, representing an increase of six patients.
