When iTromsø was in place, the approximately 200 meter long queue stretched from the test station behind the Fokus cinema and all the way to the end of the town hall. Roar Evjen says they have taken steps to improve the situation.

Nordlys writes that the volunteers kept order in line while the pandemic center distributed mulled wine to Tromsø residents who wanted to try themselves. The newspaper writes that some queued for two and a half hours.

– We were expecting a little extra pressure, but today they completely took us to bed. The test center was actually supposed to close at two o’clock, but we had to stay open longer, the department head of the pandemic center, Per Harald Korsmo, told Nordlys on Tuesday afternoon.

Long waiting time

Hanne Torvik came from Denmark to celebrate Christmas in Tromsø. When iTromsø met her, she had been in line for an hour. It’s “incredibly long,” says Torvik. She thinks it could have been better planned and that it would have been wise to have the station open more frequently.

– They could have had more stalls and stayed open longer, Torvik suggests.

Hanne Torvik has not felt any symptoms, but she is following the recommendations of the municipality and testing herself. It is recommended to take the test five days after returning home from Denmark.

Asbjørn (90) and Harriet Gunderssen (80) were further ahead in the queue. They will be put to the test for the first time and, like Torvik, have been waiting for more than an hour.

– We had not calculated that it would take so long. We haven’t dressed well enough because we thought it would go faster, says Harriet Gunderssen.

Lift around

Roar Evjen, head of the home services section in the municipality, says they took steps to reduce waiting time when they saw how many people were queuing. The test station behind Fokus has extended its opening hours until 19:00 and the corona center in Kroken is open longer for pain relief in the city center. Despite high demand, he believes that Tromsø has a good test supply.

– It is very dynamic, one day it is calm, another day with a lot of pressure, but it shows that we are good at planning and we have trained people who move by themselves, says Evjen.

A good deal

Abdi Imam has traveled from Stavanger to Tromsø for the Christmas holidays. Must meet friends where one is in the risk group. It has been tried before, and now it does it again following the recommendations of the municipality.

After an hour and 45 minutes online, she was finally tested. But despite the long wait, he believes that Tromsø has a good offer for the crown tests.

– If you don’t want to queue, you can place your order by phone. They respond immediately.
