WATER IN THE STREET, NOT IN THE TAP: The water leak has caused much of Fredrikstad to lack water.
FREDRIKSTAD (VG) Much of the plank town was left without water after a major leak.
– We received a phone call saying that the water was coming out of a sump, so it is quite extensive. There are many who do not have water. We don’t know how big the area is, but we have received several calls from various places, says duty officer at the fire service Leif Høyland.
Fredriksstad Blad writes that many homes in the central parts of the city now have no water.
On its pages, the municipality writes that the leak is in Oslogata, in the Holmen district, and that the case is being worked on overnight.
– There is a large water leak in the center and we have 8-10 men working tonight to correct the error. Much of Fredrikstad has no water or low water pressure, and we have reports that this applies to Kråkerøy, Sellebakk and the city center in the first place, says the communications manager in Fredrikstad municipality, E claim Fjellstad .
He says they don’t know what happened.
– We have no idea what happened. The water has not yet entered the basements, but we have received calls from concerned people. We have a car there to help in case that happens, says Høyland in the fire service.
Right after kl. 00.30 at night to Wednesday, Fjellstad says that the water leak is closed.
– Everyone will recover the water around kl. 01. There may be discolored water, which will eventually disappear.
Much of the central areas of Fredrikstad were without water for two to three hours.
