Osen and Slengesol case is on appeal to the Court of Appeal

– My client appealed today against the verdict on the question of guilt under subsection II of the indictment (Osen) and the sentence for both cases, reports Kim Brügger Villanger to TV 2.

His client, the 37-year-old Polish citizen, was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison.

Key issues are not considered

As a comment on the appeal in the Osen case, Villanger has the following to say:

– We believe that the court has failed to consider key and important factors that support our client’s explanation that the incident was staged. In our opinion, there are so many central circumstances in our client’s explanation that fit with other evidence in the case that it is surprising that the court has dismissed the explanation as it has, Villanger explains in an email to TV 2.

Wrong starting point

He points out that he has trouble understanding the sentence.

– Our opinion is that the court has taken the wrong starting point and placed significantly too high in the assessment, given the cases with which it is natural to compare this case.

This is crazy!

– This is crazy, is Reidar Osen’s first comment.

– What do you think of the anchoring of one of the accused?

– I am glad that the verdict is being appealed and that means that I expect a more complete round in the next court. This was a nice Christmas present, Reidar Osen tells TV 2.

– Is this surprising?

– Now I found out on TV 2 and I must say that I am very surprised, Osen responds.

– Amazing!

– This is incredible, this is Petter Slengesol’s first comment.

– What do you think now …

– I have a bit of mixed feelings, because I honestly thought that the case was already finished, says Slengesol.

He knew nothing of the appeal until TV 2 was able to inform him that the case has been appealed by the 37-year-old man.

-I am surprised because I believe that the sentence is ridiculously low in relation to the action to which they have subjected me and I hope that it is reflected in a possible new verdict, says Slengesol.

He thought that the prosecution would be the party that could appeal the case.

– The sequel will definitely be exciting, concludes Slengesol.

Kidnapped and abused

In February 2015, Petter Slengesol was brutally assaulted, kidnapped and abused in his own van by masked men. In December 2015, the art dealer Reidar Osen was subjected to the same type of attack.

During the trial in the Bergen District Court in November, the two men were convicted in the Petter Slengesol case, while the 32-year-old was acquitted in the Osen case.
