On October 22 last year, a car ended up on the roof of Rosenhoff in Oslo.
The defendant and a woman in her 20s were sitting in the car. The woman disappeared from the place on foot.
When police and ambulance personnel arrived, the 33-year-old man threatened the ambulance with a shotgun. He drove from the place at high speed.
Wild driving
On the wild ride, the ambulance collided with a stroller on a sidewalk. The twins’ mother and an elderly couple were also about to be beaten.
The mother told NRK shortly after about the incident. She thought that they had apparently been guarded by angels.
The 33-year-old man was charged with the attempted murder of five people in November last year. He denied guilt.
The man is now charged with attempted murder of a total of seven people while trying to escape from the police. The man denies criminal guilt.
Comprehensive prosecution
The accusation against the 33-year-old is very extensive. In addition to attempted murder, he is charged with aggravated robbery and threats in connection with his takeover of the ambulance.
He is also charged with illegal possession of a weapon, driving under the influence of drugs, drug-related offenses.
He is also charged with various infringements of the Road Traffic Law in connection with the driving of ambulances.
The man’s defense attorney, Øyvind Bergøy Pedersen, has the following comment on the indictment.
– We discussed it when we got to court. I have not read the indictment. I have only received it orally, so I cannot now comment on the details of the accusation.
You respond in this way to how your client views the other points of the accusation.
– He has never hidden that he committed many serious crimes that day. Insist on that.
Lawyer Øyvind Bergøy Pedersen believes that it took too long before the accusation was cleared up.
– It should have arrived half a year ago. Of course, it is very, very unfortunate for everyone involved, the allegedly offended, and of course the defendants are going to expect this.
Previously convicted
The ambulance hijacker has already been convicted several times. He has been convicted of threats against the police, violence and robbery.
A woman in her 20s is also in pretrial detention, charged with possession of a weapon and possession of drugs.
The woman has denied her criminal guilt. She has claimed that she only hitchhiked with the accident car.
The police fired at the ambulance.
The police fired at least 19 shots during the operation. No one was injured. A bullet entered the window of a bakery.
The special unit for police cases dropped the case against four police officers earlier this fall. The conclusion was that they had not committed any crime when they shot at the hijacked ambulance.
The wild ride ended in an entrance hall in Torshov.
But the perpetrator still hasn’t given up. According to the Special Unit, ten shots were fired at the side of the ambulance driver. The goal was to hit the man’s legs.
Then pepper spray was used. Finally, the man raised his hands and was arrested.
