LAST: Task Force Says Man Who Was Shot By Police Monday Night Is Dead.

The man died at 1:00 pm last night from injuries sustained during the armed police action. This was stated by the Office of Investigation in a press release on Tuesday.

The background to all this was an emergency response to a disturbance at an apartment in Ibsens Gate just before 10pm on Monday night.

– Shortly thereafter, it was also reported that flames had been observed inside the apartment, says on-call attorney Arne Fjellstad in the West Police District.

The health service was the first to be on site. They again contacted the police, who alerted when the flames were discovered.

Bergen police will hold a press conference on the case at 1:15 pm.

Witness: – Like in a movie.

– Based on the situation and the information obtained, weapons were handed over to the crews involved, says Fjellstad.

This afternoon, NRK met with one of the eyewitnesses who was at the scene during the police operation.

– It was like seeing you in a movie. There was a lot of blue light, says Fras Karkouchia (21).

He was one of the closest neighbors of the now deceased man. I was walking down the street when the sprinkler system went on when it burned down in the neighbor’s apartment.

Karkouchia says he did not notice the police shot, but saw the man fall through the window.

– It is not possible to describe what I felt. You don’t know what to feel, but what happened has happened, says Karkouchia.

According to him, there have been several episodes of threats between the neighbor and other residents on the street in the past.

“Confrontation with the police”

When NRK was at the scene last night, the people who lived at the address were moved. The crime scene is now completely cordoned off.

The special unit for police affairs is routinely connected, such as when the police shoot or seriously injure someone. Today, they get help from Krops to conduct on-site investigations.

In a press release, they tell more about tonight’s drama:

– Immediately after the police arrived, there was a confrontation with a person and the police fired with service weapons, writes Ellen Eikeseth Mjøs in the investigation department of the West Office.

The person who was shot was sent to Haukeland University Hospital with gunshot wounds, it was here that he died last night from gunshot wounds.

Firefighters are said to have tried to climb up to him, but according to witnesses, the man fell to the ground when the firefighter approached.

Police officers will be questioned

Police will not release further information on the case until Tuesday night.

On Tuesday morning, a police patrol is on duty outside the apartment block. All residents at the corresponding entrance must be staying at a hotel, according to an on-site security guard.

Police are now fully investigating the case:

– The interrogations will be carried out by the officials involved, by the health service and the firefighters who were in the place. Residents and other civil witnesses are contacted. The police audio record of the incident and any other digital evidence are protected and reviewed. The special unit will clarify what the background of the police shooting was and what happened in the time immediately before they were fired, says Mjøs in the special unit.
