38 municipalities have an increasing infection trend according to the VG summary. With 431 new cases of infection registered, the trend at the national level has also been increasing.

Since November 19, the trend of infection in Norway has been downward or flat. Now it turns around again and shows an increasing trend of infection.

The municipalities with the most cases of infection in the last 14 days are mainly located in addition to Oslo in Viken, but Trondheim, Skien, Lillehammer and Bergen are also among the municipalities.

Several municipalities with large foci

On Saturday, according to the municipality’s own figures, Trondheim recorded more new people infected in a single day than ever before during the pandemic.

It’s been about a week since the situation in the city turned upside down. The infection could mainly be attributed to a Christmas show in which most of those involved were infected and to the Eritrean environment.

The presidency of the municipality introduced an order for sanitary napkins to take control of the situation. At the same time, traces of infection reported that people had much closer contacts than they should.

In Skien, 220 cases of infection have been registered in the last 14 days. All the schools there are now are on the red level. Also in neighboring municipalities, they have seen an increase in infection, and the Telemark hospital is now on yellow alert.

In Fredrikstad, 270 cases have been registered in the last 14 days, while in Sarpsborg the number is 255. The outbreak in Sarpsborg in the last week is related to Nortura and two Christian communities in the municipality. In Fredrikstad, students and staff at several different schools are affected by the infection, and the municipality has encouraged residents to lower the threshold for testing due to a “wild infection”.

In Lillehammer, the infection has been so extensive that the municipality had to introduce homeschooling in the municipality. In kindergartens, the municipality has announced a challenge to ensure that there are enough staff who know the children from before until Christmas, and to encourage the least possible use.

This is how the trend is calculated

The VG calculation of the infection trend gives an indication of whether it is decreasing, increasing or has stabilized by adding the cases of infection in the last week and comparing it with the sum of two weeks ago. Among various criteria, the change must be 15 percent or more one way or another for the trend to reverse.

This means that in a smaller municipality with little infection, there must be more cases of infection before the trend is reversed. In Oslo, which has the most new infections of all municipalities, however, the trend is flat, that is, almost the same as before.

In its latest risk report, FHI has indicated that the most likely scenario in the future will be constant local outbreaks of varying magnitude.

The NIPH estimates that there is a high probability of many local outbreaks with five to 50 cases.

– But we hope that the municipalities involved can still regain control, in most cases within three or four weeks. The disease burden from these outbreaks will likely be small, and the outbreaks will not threaten the capacity of hospitals, the institute writes.

In the summary below, you can see the municipalities with ascending, flat and descending trends:
