The man charged with the murder of a woman in Ålgård on Monday night does not admit guilt.

Just before 10:20 p.m. on Monday, the police received a report of a fire in a vertically divided house in Ålgård in Rogaland.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found an injured woman in her 60s inside the home. The woman was taken to Stavanger University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 30s was arrested at another house in Ålgård at 00.15 pm on Tuesday, charged with murder.

– The woman was taken from the home and it was established that the injuries she had were not compatible with burns, says police attorney Fredrik Martin Soma during a press conference at the Stavanger Police House on Tuesday morning.

The man has been questioned last night and denies being guilty of the murder.

According to police attorney Soma, it appears the two are in a relationship, but they are not related. It also says that the accused is an acquaintance of the police.

During the night, the police conducted investigations at the scene and spoke with witnesses. Soma affirms that today they will continue working on the case, carrying out technical investigations and new interrogations of the accused. They will also question various witnesses during the day.
