– We were lucky with the wind direction, says Bømlo Fire Service Operations Director Jens Helge Habbestad.
With winds from the southwest, several outbuildings and another single-family home could be in danger, according to the task leader.
A man was homeless when his single-family home in Brekkevegen in Bømlo burned to the ground. Naudetatane was notified of the fire at 3:15 a.m. Sunday night.

– saved himself
The man came out of the overheated house with his own help.
– He was saved and was outside when we arrived, says Habbestad.
The house was on fire when the fire department arrived, and the house was completely on fire at 6 p.m. Sunday.
– There is still a fire without a flame, and four men are carrying out a subsequent extinction, says Habbestad at 07.15 hours.
The owner is hospitalized after inhaling smoke, but is not seriously injured.
The cause of the fire has not been clarified.
