Here, Støre challenges the boycott of his own press manager Bjørn Dæhlie

“The buyer should bother to advertise a Bø tax shelter that we all have to pay for. I don’t do that.”

This is how Labor Party communications manager Jarle Roheim Håkonsen made his Facebook post, listing his Bjørn Dæhlie ski wear, “for political reasons.”

In recent weeks, debate, and not least the Labor Party, has erupted against conservative mayor Sture Pedersen in Bø municipality in Vesterålen after the municipality slashed the municipal share of the estate tax.

The tax measure has prompted several wealthy to report to the municipality to save taxes on wealth.

Labor Party on Dæhlie: “tax refugee”

One of the most prominent wealthy people now moving is Bjørn Dæhlie. Dæhlie, best known as Norway’s king of skiing and the third-winningest winter Olympian of all time with his eight Olympic gold medals, has made a fortune designing casual clothing especially for cross-country skiing.

Dæhlie will save just over two million crowns in wealth tax annually on the relocation operation, calculations made by E24 have shown.

“I have always liked Bjørn Dæhlie, but I must admit that I liked him more in the role of ski hero than tax refugee,” wrote Labor Party parliamentary representative Martin Henriksen in an article in Dagbladet on October 29.

Boycott Dæhlie’s clothes

And on Saturday a week ago, Ap’s own communications manager took on the king of skiing.

But when TV 2 on Monday this week met with Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre for an interview at Skjennungstua in Nordmarka, he showed up in ski gear by Bjørn Dæhlie.

“We refuse to comment on this,” Håkonsen responds when TV 2 asks for a comment on why Støre chose to wear the clothes of the man his own party colleagues refer to as a tax refugee.

Conservative Mayor: – Low goals

The mayor of Bø reacts strongly to the Labor Party boycott of the ski king brand.

– It’s disappointing. I don’t think one should use such terms about human beings. Bjørn Dæhlie chooses to move to Bø to try to start something new and contribute to our local community. That the Labor Party is trying to hang him this way is a low goal. Neither Bjørn nor anyone else deserves it, Sture Pedersen tells TV 2.
