On Saturday, the police moved to Østmarkveien in Ulsrud in Oslo in connection with the discovery of an old grenade. At 7 pm, the police had taken the grenade to destroy it.

The bomb squad recovered the grenade from a car using a remote control robot, and the grenade was transported to one of the bomb squad’s cars. According to the police, the grenade will be destroyed on Saturday night.

Task leader Thomas Broberg in the Oslo police district informed VG on Saturday afternoon that the grenade was found by a civilian in Østmarka that same morning.

– The grenade was transported to the area by the civilian, who alerted the police.

The grenade is one of the so-called bomber grenades, but how old it is is unknown.

The bomb squad set up barricades and carried out an evacuation of between 30 and 40 people and nearby homes. The evacuated homes are now in place.

– There is great risk associated with the object, and we conducted the evacuation to be safe, Broberg said before the evacuation.
