A Tesla driver, charged with wrongful death, was driving a car when he hit a truck driver on E18 in Arendal in May this year.
It came about when the trial against the driver, a man in his 40s, began in Aust-Agder district court on Wednesday, writes motor.no.
The accident occurred at 11:20 a.m. on May 29.
The truck driver had parked the semi-trailer on the right shoulder of the road on the E18 near the Torsbuås Tunnel to fasten a safety strap when he was hit by a Tesla. The man died on the spot.
The prosecution believes the man was not alert and cautious enough when the collision occurred.
According to Agderposten, the man does not admit criminal guilt. He thinks he had no preconditions for understanding that there was a man there. He believes this was because the man was in the shadow of the semi-trailer, something the forensic scientist has also established made him less visible.
The defendant also said that he was lying just to the side of the left lane when the accident occurred, and that he always had both hands on the wheel.
