He was a kind and kind-hearted boy, always cheerful and smiling. He was well loved, everyone liked him.
That’s what Anas Jarrari, 19, tells Dagbladet. He works at the Furuset library and at the activity house, and came on Friday night to lay flowers at the intersection between Maria Dehlis vei and Grorudveien east of Oslo, where the 13-year-old boy was beaten on Thursday night.
He says the local community is heavily influenced.
– There was a person who always came and who was seen at the activity house. One that many had a relationship with, either as a friend, mutual friend, or through the activity club or school.

Jarrari is not alone when he meets Dagbladet on Friday night. Several have placed flowers at the site. One of them is Kainat Shahzad (22), who works in the multipurpose room Furuset Forum.
– I come to show respect for him and for all those who are affected by what happened. He used to come all the time. He was a cheerful and creative kid, and he had as much fun with the employees as with the other kids, he tells Dagbladet, adding:
– He gave everyone a smile.
She says that everyone in the area is affected by the tragic accident.
– It’s absolutely awful.

Accused of negligent homicide
On Friday night, police arrested a man in his 30s after the collision. He is now charged with violating the Highway Traffic and Negligent Homicide Act.
The arrested driver of a dark Mitsubishi SUV admitted under questioning to having been at the scene Thursday night, approached the pedestrian and left the scene. He was detained in his own home after good police work. Operational teams managed to track him down, and we believe we have the right perpetrator, Rune Skjold, head of finance investigation and specialist letter investigation in the Oslo police district, tells Dagbladet.
Witnesses described to police on Thursday night the incident in which the driver was speeding and hitting the boy, who was thrown into the air and collided with another car.
Under investigation
Dagbladet receives confirmation that the defendant has previously been investigated in another criminal case, which involves driving under the influence of drugs.
– When did this relationship happen?
– Not long ago, without my being able to give more details. Therefore, we want to take him into custody at the risk of reappearing, says Skjold.
The previous crime did not involve personal injury, says the head of the investigation.
The man will be presented for custody at the Oslo District Court on Saturday afternoon.

– In a panic
The man himself has explained to the police that he panicked after the incident.
– You explained that you left the place because you panicked. He also justified this by saying that he saw other people at the scene and that he was sure the boy would get help. Of course, there is no excuse for him not to stop, but it says something about the fear he was having at the time, his defender Harald Fjeldstad tells Dagbladet.
He says his client admits to using drugs or alcohol earlier in the day, but was unaffected at the time of the crime.
– Then the blood tests will reveal if you were affected or not. The same will do the additional investigation to see if you were negligent when you drove the child. He himself has explained that it was an accident.
The defender continues:
– It is important for him to emphasize that he thinks this is terrible and of course the worst for the family, with whom he expresses his deepest condolences. You are in dire straits.
