In an interview with VG on Friday morning, Kurt Nilsen confirms that next year will be his last year of Christmas concerts. Nilsen says this year should have been the last, but due to the pandemic, concerts have been heavily amputated.
– For me, an era in my career is over. And I want to come out of that era both with dignity and with a bang, or on top, if you will. So I feel that the tour must also be perfect, but it is not this year, he tells the newspaper.
In 2010, Nilsen released the holiday album “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in collaboration with Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. The album quickly became very popular and several of the songs have found their way back to the charts year after year around Christmas time.
Since the album was released ten years ago, the 2003 Idol winner has toured across the country, making sure people get into the holiday spirit. The concerts at Oslo Spektrum were sold out and garnered rave reviews from critics.
However, the artist must not give up. When the Christmas concerts are over, the popular Bergen native enters the studio to produce new music.
