During his presidency, Donald Trump announced a move from New York to Florida. Now the neighbors are asking him to find another place to live.

In the coastal city of Palm Beach, in the sunny state, is Donald Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago. In recent years, while the president’s official residence has been on Pennsylvania Avenue in the capital Washington, DC, his location in Florida has been dubbed the Winter White House.

This is where Trump has gone in winter to relax a bit and play a lot of golf between battles in the (real) White House.

During his time as president, he also formally announced moving here from New York, where he lived before becoming president. So this is where many expect him to move when his time in Washington, DC ends on January 20.

But not everyone wants that.

I lost the court in the 90s

Now the residents of Mar-a-Lago have come with a clear and different message: We don’t want you as a neighbor!

It happened in the form of a letter delivered to local authorities in Palm Beach on Tuesday this week, writes the Washington Post. The letter was also addressed to the Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of the president – and former presidents – among other things.

The letter claims that Trump lost his legal right to live in Mar-a-Lago after an agreement signed in the early 1990s when he converted the ownership of a residence into a private club.

Neighbors, who hired attorney Reginald Stambaugh to write the letter, are asking Palm Beach to inform Trump that he cannot use Mar-a-Lago as his residence. Reporting whether this will ensure one “avoids an embarrassing situation” in which Trump is forced to move again after moving first, the attorney writes.

He is hired by a family named DeMoss, who lives nearby. They are concerned that the value of their property will decrease as a result of all Trump’s use of their property, in part because of what is needed for security reasons.

– No legal form

They are not the only ones skeptical of having Trump as a permanent neighbor. Glenn Zeitz, is another.

“There is absolutely no legal way for him to use that property as a home and as a club,” he told the Washington Post, adding that neighbors will not be fooled or intimidated.

Neither the White House nor local Palm Beach authorities have responded to the newspaper’s questions. However, a spokesman for the Trump organization denies that Trump can be refused to live there.

“There are no documents or agreements in force that prevent President Trump from using Mar-a-Lago as his residence,” the spokesman said.

However, both the Washington Post and other outlets write about a 1993 agreement that states that none of the club’s members, including Trump, can live more than 21 days a year in the club’s premises, and no more than seven days in a row. .

According to CNN, Donald Trump over the years has had several disputes with Palm Beach authorities and city residents.
