Former security chief says US elections were safest in history

Krebs was called to a Senate hearing Wednesday on the election that Republican Ron Johnson had called.

– While the options can be confusing at times, this was a safe option. I have no doubt about itsaid Krebs, who was fired after he objected to President Donald Trump’s election fraud accusation.

The hearing takes place as Trump and his allies continue their campaign against the election that Joe Biden won.

Ally for Trump

Ron Johnson, who heads the Homeland Security Committee and called the hearing, is one of Trump’s close allies when it comes to allegations of voter fraud.

Johnson called the hearing despite protests from Democrats, and there were heated discussions on several occasions when Democratic senators attacked Trump’s baseless allegations of voter fraud.

Johnson said there would be an interdisciplinary hearing to investigate the election, but he himself focused on the allegations made by Trump’s lawyers.

None of the state election officials who have promised the election went smoothly, many of them Republicans, were called up.

– Must end

During questioning, Krebs, who had been subpoenaed by Democrats, called on Republicans to stop spreading the false allegations of voter fraud.

– I see that these reports that contradict the facts, continue to spread. We must put an end to that. Undermine confidence in democracy, he said.

While the hearing was still ongoing, Trump again tweeted his allegations of voter fraud.

“Chris Krebs was completely flayed and disproved at the Senate hearing on the fraudulent election,” he wrote, reiterating allegations that the dead voted, that the voting machines were programmed to cheat and that people without the right to vote voted.
