Two patients admitted to Harstad University Hospital in Northern Norway tested positive for rapid covid-19 tests on Tuesday afternoon.

The hospital now has a total of three patients, three employees, and a nursing student who tested positive for COVID-19, reports UNN Harstad.

– All three patients have been admitted for another reason and have not had corona symptoms before. They were tested because they had corona symptoms, says UNN Harstad operations manager Gina M. Johansen.

Another 25 employees may be quarantined at the hospital, which already has 29 employees in quarantine after the outbreak at UNN Harstad last week.

– The number may change, so we cannot say for sure as infection tracking will take place overnight and tomorrow. And then you can reveal more employees, says Johansen.

The hospital plans to test 120 employees and patients.

– This means we test everyone and not just close contacts. So not everyone is quarantined, but we all test to be safe. That’s what Hanne Frøyshov, medical advisor on forehead management, says.

Back on yellow alert

– Pandemic management and leadership at UNN continually assess the operational situation and whether we should reduce activity on the basis that we have many employees who are in quarantine, says UNN Harstad operations manager Gina M. Johansen.

The hospital is now on yellow alert again.

– It is clear that we are in a serious outbreak situation, and the management of the front and the management of UNN for the rest of the case on an ongoing basis.

The operations manager encourages everyone to report at the scheduled time if nothing else has been notified.

– It is important to emphasize that all close contacts will be contacted. All patients who have not canceled their appointment must attend their outpatient appointment and their appointment, says Johansen.

One week since the last wave of infection.

UNN’s capacity has skyrocketed by patients ready for discharge, iTromsø writes. The UNN in Tromsø has had to accept several patients who need immediate help. The director of the hospital demands immediate action from the municipality.

Just a week ago, more than 100 people were quarantined after an outbreak at the hospital. Two employees, a patient, and a close contact tested positive.

A UNN employee in Narvik also tested positive, he was associated with the outbreak at Harstad hospital.

Are today’s cases related to last week’s outbreak?

– It is just speculation, because it is very difficult to say where the infection comes from. Now we test a lot of people so we can find out where the infection is coming from, says Frøyshov.
