Since the crown pandemic began in earnest, Australia has only admitted its own citizens and permanent residents. All participants must also spend 14 days in quarantine before they are allowed to roam freely.
This has led to the infection practically disappearing. On average, 9.4 people have been infected per day in the last week, and the numbers have been almost as low since mid-September. The country has strict rules where local outbreaks occur, but in low-infection regions, restrictions have begun to be lifted, including in Victoria and New South Wales.

In shopping centers, cafes and means of transport, people crowd, many of them without masks, although the authorities still urge to keep their distance, wear masks when traveling by public transport and avoid large crowds.
And online reactions are swift, especially from envious Americans:
– Tonight I’ll cry myself to sleep in California, writes a user.
– If only the United States had a better plan, write another.
– Do not let the Americans enter your country, then everything will be fine. Our country is a joke, writes a third.

The “Australian conditions” provoke different reactions among their own compatriots:
– As a Sydney resident, I just have to say … We could have worn a mask and kept our distance a LITTLE longer … I’m concerned about a new wave of infections around Christmas / New Years, writes one user.
– Perth has been like this since May, haha. Good to see that everyone is doing well now!
