On Tuesday, Norgesgruppen, like Coop Norge SA and Rema 1000 AS, received a preliminary notification of an infringement fee for illegal cooperation. It follows from a message.

“For NorgesGruppen, the advertised rate is NOK 8.75 billion. The Norwegian Competition Authority’s preliminary assessment is that the industry standard for comparable advertising, which grocery operators entered in consultation with consumer authorities, has established a basis for violations of the Competition Law. NorgesGruppen believes that neither industry norm, nor industry practice, violates Competition Law. The industry standard, which has been made public and in consultation with consumer authorities, promotes healthy competition for the benefit of customers. The deal has contributed to strong price competition for several years.
