At 6.30pm on Saturday night, Håvard Hamre donned a reflective vest on his black English Staffordshire Kira (4) for a walk.

When Hamre stopped by the local Joker shop at Fyrstikktorget in Helsfyr in Oslo, he realized he needed a couple of groceries.

He tied Kira in a hallway outside the store and went inside.

When he came back out two minutes later, Kira had disappeared without a trace.

– I was completely in shock and ran to look for her, says Hamre on TV 2.

Avisa Oslo was the first to mention the case.

Hamre describes his dog as very trusting and very attached to his owner.

– I’m one hundred percent sure someone has stolen it, says Hamre desperately.

When he didn’t see Kira anywhere, he called the police.

They quickly arrived at the scene and began speaking with witnesses in the area.

– Only sick people steal a dog. Phew, I’m completely out of my mind right now, says Hamre.

Police are looking for the dog in the area.

Hamre and a friend have been walking, yelling and driving around the area for several hours looking for Kira.

– We have electricity in all the stairs, containers and nearby bins. Either it’s dead or it’s stolen to be used as a fighting dog, Hamre says.

Police say two young men were observed at the scene just before the dog was robbed. They are not sure if these two could be related to the theft.

Police are asking witnesses, who can help the dog’s owner reunite with his four-legged friend, to make contact.
