The 29-year-old woman who escaped from the road at Viafjellet in Førde on Friday was found dead on Saturday. Family members have been notified.
This is stated by the police in a press release. There is no indication that the woman is the victim of a criminal act, according to police. The woman was found by police dog patrol at 12:03.
The search operation began at 4.45 pm on Friday afternoon. Later, a man who knows the woman had notified the police that he had been in contact with her when she was coming down the mountain, but that contact had been broken.
The woman is said to have told him that she had turned away from the path leading down the mountain and that she was in a very slippery and steep area. The woman could not be contacted on her mobile phone.
According to the Western Police District, the search operation for the woman involved helicopters, police dogs, Norwegian rescue dogs, the Red Cross and Civil Defense crews.
The woman who was found dead was a foreign national who worked in Førde.
