The season’s penultimate episode of “Maskorama” aired on Saturday and it became clear that Anne Rimmen, also known as “The Raven”, had to drop out. This weekend, the stage is set for the final, where “Vikingen”, “Elgen” and “Trollet” will compete to win the show.
Surprises have already been promised in the final broadcast, without NRK wanting to comment on exactly that further. The previous episodes have also offered surprises and unexpected elements. As the presenter Silje Nordnes herself says: “In ‘Maskorama’ anything can happen”.
For example, did you notice the flowers that all the participants wore as they performed duet with the artists from “Star Wars” last Saturday? If you think they were placed there by chance, think again.
“Maskorama”: this is how celebrities hide
Secret message
For Dagbladet, the designer of “Maskorama”, Kjell Nordström, can explain that the subtle detail had a secret meaning.
All four participants had the rose on their chests. The duet partners also placed the rose on their costumes during magical performances.
Nordström has changed the outfit of the masked celebrities several times during the season, but this is the first time that something is so consistent and clear.
I had a clear intention with the decoration:
– The roses that they themselves decorated for the duets should show how important it is that we show that we care for each other, even though we have to keep our distance, he says, continuing:
– Small “details” that show consideration at a time when we cannot give each other a hug, he further explains.
The roses were ignored during the broadcast, but the designer had a clear ambition. It is not known if around a million viewers perceived it.

Huge amount of work
Think of everything. Nordström has designed the costumes with particular celebrities in mind, so that they are especially tailored to them in both design and fit. Therefore, he is one of the few who have always known who is hiding behind the masks.
– What is it like to keep this “state secret” for more than a year?
– I do not think that it is that hard. I have done nothing but work, eat and sleep. I’ve avoided people, so it went really well, he told Dagbladet.
– I can’t get drunk with friends, or tell funny stories about work. So I’ve been a pretty naughty friend to ask over for dinner, he added humorously.
He still lives well with that, because according to himself he has hardly been involved in a more fun project. It’s great to see the finished product on stage and on screen every Saturday.
However, there is an enormous amount of work hours behind. Actually, it has been a year and a half since the first sketches were made. The costumes themselves have taken a year to make.
– First, the participants had to choose which characters they liked best based on a secret sketchbook with many ideas. Then they came to provide information, it is also up to me to judge whether it is good or not. We find a balance, we also put little clues about the person behind, but also little clues in the costume, Nordström explained.
In addition, the costumes must be possible to act and must not fall apart.
– There are many technical and practical aspects that should work. You should put on and take off, preferably you should also be able to breathe and see something. You lose all your senses when trapped in a tight costume, and your senses should be able to dance and perform, the costume designer said.
