The incident took place on a Thursday night in February, Nationen writes.

The man explained that he had had three or four beers when his four-year-old dog attacked him on the couch. The dog is said to have bit him on the arm and knocked him to the ground. That’s why he stabbed the dog several times with a sharp object, the man explained.

The Sogn og Fjordane District Court believes the man used scissors, which they found at the scene. The district court justifies the verdict by claiming that the man went beyond what was necessary to avoid harm.

The dog that died was a cane corso weighing about 70 kilos, Nationen writes.

The man has previously been convicted of violence, as well as violation of drug and gun laws.
