Strong reactions

At least the reactions did not wait for the fourth official.

Television images showed assistant coach Pierre Webo, who is also a former player for the Cameroon team, asking the referee several times why he used the word “black.”

Basaksehir striker Demba Ba also reacted strongly to the Romanian referee team.

The former Premier League striker is now also praised for his participation in the discussion with the referee team.

Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright is among those praising Demba Ba.

Left the field

The discussion between players, support staff and the referee team lasted about ten minutes, before the Turkish team left the field in protest.

– This is not football, said Mehmet Topal of the Turkish team as he entered the locker room with Norwegian Fredrik Gulbrandsen and the other teammates.

The match has now been canceled.

Half an hour after the incident, Istanbul Basaksehir posted the following message on Twitter.

International media are now reporting that the Turkish team is refusing to return to the field unless the fourth official is withdrawn.

According to the BBC, UEFA announces that the match will start again with a new fourth official, but that the Istanbul Basaksehir players are currently not in sight and it is not known whether they will complete the match.
