(Ull / Kisa-Sogndal 2-0) With a little help from the neighbor, Lillestrøm was able to dump the champagne this afternoon. LSK is back in the Elite Series. Kongsvinger and Øygarden go down.
After Ull / Kisa smashed Sogndal’s chances to win back Lillestrøm, Eirik Bakke’s men have to go through qualifying, while Lillestrøm goes straight up and is back in good company after a short visit in the Obosligaen.
In Åråsen, the Lillestrøm players sat on the bench in front of the TV and watched what was a sadly boring football match at Jessheim Stadium.
That was it until Christian Aas scored a rare goal. His first league goal since the 2016 season (!) Was a gem:
Rare score
The 33-year-old received the ball in the legs at 17 meters and finished off with a full volley. Sogndal goalkeeper Renze Fij barely had time to react.
The 2-0 score was provided by midfielder Morten Sundli after Sogndal’s defense failed to clear a corner. From one angle, Sundli was able to double the lead.
In the Obos league, it is also clear who will be relegated. Øygarden and Kongsvinger went on strike today against YMCA Oslo and Grorud, respectively. Therefore, it will be the 2nd division match next season.
Espen Garnås, who came from Ull / Kisa to Lillestrøm in the middle of the season, sent a big thank you to Jessheim.
– It’s completely unbelievable. I am proud of the guys from Kisa who help us today. We would have liked to have organized the promotion ourselves, but it’s nice when it’s in the box, Garnås tells VG.
– And now you are an elite player?
– It’s something I’ve dreamed of all my life, so it’s going to be great.
I have a job to do
LSK captain Thomas Lehne Olsen sums up a “special year and a special season” as follows:
– It has gone up and down, but it doesn’t matter: That we are here now and will play in the Elite Series is very good. Now we’ll finish big at home against Grorud, then we’ll take a well-deserved vacation.
Coach Geir Bakke was relieved after the promotion was done, one round before the end.
– We knew it was going to be difficult. We have achieved it, although we have felt it along the way. Now we are where we should be. We are very happy about that.
– How is LSK equipped for a comeback in the elite series?
– We have a formidable job ahead of us, we must admit. We need to make changes in many areas. Now we have to shoot faster, there is nothing to worry about. So we must have some renovation in the stable if we want to play with the greats, the successful coach tells VG.
– It’s great to be part of a promotion. That’s why I came here, says Torbjørn Kallevåg. He boasts of those who joined the relegation and chose to fight to make their stay in the OBOS league as short as possible.
– It’s a fantastic club to play. Now we will see what happens, he tells VG about the future. He will be a father first, on Christmas Eve.
