Nepal and China agree on new official height on Mount Everest

The battle has been between snow and rock, writes The Wall Street Journal.

In fact, there is a layer of snow several meters thick on the top of the mountain, which at the top of the snow layer is about 8,848 meters above sea level.

It is this height that Nepal has leaned on all these years, while China, for its part, has operated with an official height four meters lower, that is, the height of the mountain itself.

In recent years, a series of surveys have been carried out in order to make new precise measurements, a project carried out in collaboration between the two countries.

The final result, which is not yet known, will be announced next Tuesday.

The authorities of the two countries refer to the project as “an eternal symbol of friendship between Nepal and China.”(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
