“On Monday, the county council and our city council group will decide whether we will take a hard line against the city council on the issue of re-communicating bus services in Oslo,” Siavash Mobasheri told VG.
The Oslo City Council will vote on the City Council’s budget proposal on Wednesday of next week.
Oslo City Council is made up of the Labor Party, MDG and SV, and has 27 out of 59 seats on the city council. Red is sitting on the ledge with his four representatives.
– This means that the city council today does not have a majority in its budget. Personally, I think this is such an important matter of principle and policy that we must work hard. But there are different attitudes about it on Red, so clarification will not come before Monday’s match hearing, Mobasheri says.
He considers that the supply of buses will be cheaper and better, and that employees will have better working conditions and wages with municipal ownership.
Oslo Labor leader Frode Jacobsen, who is leading the negotiations with Rødt, says the municipality already operates most of the public transport.
– I don’t see any reason to turn something that works well upside down, says Jacobsen.
