The company announces it in a press release Saturday morning.

Aircraft investor, businessman and heir Erik G. Braathen also introduces the team working to build the airline, to be called Flyr.

– The name reflects the simplicity of the company and the product that we are under construction. We launch Flyr with the aim of offering the simplest flight, according to the needs of the passengers. Erik G. Braathen says in the message.

– The choice of name can challenge traditional rules and expectations, and in the same way we want to be a challenger in aviation. Airplanes are the best we can do, and all we have to do is write Braathen.

– Flyr was created for the Norwegian market after the corona pandemic. Norway is a long country with fjords and mountains, which means we need to fly in the next few years, but probably a little less than we’ve done before, says Frislid.

Braathen and the rest of the team surprised many when they announced on October 6 that they would start a new Norwegian airline, which will focus on routes in Norway and central routes from Norway to Scandinavia and Europe.

Erik G. Braathen is the brother of Per Braathen, who is also a household name in the tourism industry. The latter owns, among others, Dyreparken in Kristiansand, the Ticket and Escape Travel travel agencies, as well as the Swedish airline BRA.

Erik’s new airline will focus on Norway’s main route network as well as direct flights to ‘European destinations’.
