A person in the municipality of Rana has died as a result of Covid-19, the municipality reports in a press release.
This is the first crown death in Nordland.
Although the person was known to be infected with covid-19, the death was unexpected, the municipality writes in a press release.
The person is one of those who has been infected during the ongoing outbreak in Rana. Family members have been notified.
The municipality of Rana has previously issued information that there has been an infection in the housing association where the person lived.
– We are seriously considering the possibility of including a corona infection in a municipal housing offer and that a resident has died, communications manager Connie Slettan Olsen in Rana tells NRK.
He tells NRK that there are several infected in the same housing association.
– The death was unexpected and that is why we have requested an autopsy. It’s the preliminary autopsy report that we’ve received a response to saying this death is related to the crown.
No routine failures have been identified. Rana Township says they will still ask the county governor for an external review to find out if the routines have been good enough.
