Wholesaler, Energy | The old item was priced at Power:

[ad_1]

At the same time that the new edition of the Xbox came out, Power heavily promoted an older version of the same console. This caused a huge storm of customers.

Just a few weeks after the launch of the Xbox Series S, Power posted an ad on Facebook announcing that it could get the Xbox at a new price.

There was only one chin. This was the previous version, Xbox One S, and it was also more expensive than the new model costs today.

– I reacted to this, because they have announced it a lot. I have seen the same ad multiple times. It’s an old, cheap console, says Stine Lund Trøan.

He also found out that the four-year edition was actually created with 400 crowns on November 14 and cost 3,390 crowns on November 23.

– It’s strange to advertise the old one and present it as if it were a good price, he points out.

In comparison, the new model, which went on sale in November this year, costs 3,299 kr.

– Misleading marketing

In the comment section of the Facebook ad, customers responded. Many people perceived it as if Power was speculating that people would think it was the new one.

– This is misleading marketing. This Power post gives the clear impression that it is a good price. Firstly, because you get the best Xbox Series S for a hundred less, but also because the Xbox One X, which is also a better console, costs 300 less, write one.

– The deception of power. This is the old and discontinued Xbox One S, the new slim and small model is called Xbox Series S, writes another.

– You can bet people don’t know better. This older model sells for 1100 crowns cheaper in Elkjøp. It has deliberately priced fairly close to the new S Series model and expects people to top five, writes a third.

Power finally responded in the comment field that they had discovered that the Xbox was priced incorrectly and that they had adjusted the price to 2180 kroner.

Trøan took note of the updated price on November 25.

– Helps to complain. They listen to people and that is good. But they don’t have the best price, but I understand that they should make money, he says.

Fluctuated in price

On November 29, you noticed that the price was 3340 crowns, but the Xbox should have been sold out in the online store. On December 4, the price was NOK 2,180, but the item was sold out at the online store.

Between November 5 and 18, the lowest price was 2990 kroner at the competitors, according to Prisjakt.no. Between November 23 and 29, the price of NOK 1990 was with the competitors. On December 4, it is at 2499 kroner on NetOnNet, which is the one with the lowest price.

However, it is no longer possible to find the price history of this game console on Prisjakt.no.

– System errors

Siri Røhr-Staff, Public Relations & Communications Manager at Power, says they have thousands of different items in our range and is tracking the prices of all of them continuously.

– It is essential for us to have the same or lower prices as our competitors, as customers review prices. Therefore, it is not convenient for us to have higher prices than others, he says, and points out.

– In the very few cases that this has happened, it is because there have been errors in our systems.

As Power replied in the comment section below the Xbox One S Facebook announcement, an error must have occurred.

– In the case you are referring to, we experienced some technical challenges related to pricing through Black Week, where the mentioned product went up and down in price several times, says Røhr-Staff.

– The bug was found and fixed, and we did not experience such technical challenges today.

Reduce prices after complaints

This is not the first time that Power has lowered the price of an item after customer complaints or after a case has been featured in the media.

– It happens that errors occur that we do not collect until we receive information or questions from our clients. Then of course we will correct, says Røhr-Staff.

In late November, Nettavisen wrote about a Samsung TV that was NOK 2,000 more expensive in Power than in Elkjøp. It is true that it was not exactly the same model, but the only thing that separated the two models was the color of the stabilizer. The specifications were identical.

After Nettavisen reached out to Power, to get an answer as to why the price was so much higher with them, they adjusted the price down.

– In some cases, the customer will be willing to pay more for certain design details, but our policy is that if the specifications are the same, we must also be roughly equal to our competitors in price. Therefore, in the cases you refer to, we should have had equal prices for these products. Now we’ve come in and adjusted, Røhr-Staff replied.
