– We have not negotiated any bridges in Nordland, but in Sør-Varanger, says Bengt Rune Strifeldt (Frp).
On Tuesday, news came that the new Strømmen bridge at Sør-Varanger in Finnmark would receive NOK 42 million.
But after the cheers broke out, the pipe made a different sound. According to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the money would go to a namesake in Nordland. A bridge that is 1000 kilometers away.

Nordland, not Finnmark
The confusion arose when Knut Åsmund Hågensen from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration told iFinnmark that the wrong bridge had received the money..
– Here we fear that there has been a misunderstanding and a confusion of names, he told the newspaper.
According to Hågensen, the money will go to the Strømmen Bridge in the Nordland municipality of Sørfold.
– The power bridge at Sør-Varanger is probably a bit further in time, so you will probably have to wait.
NRK has repeatedly tried to get the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to speak, but they refer to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The Ministry has not yet responded to NRK’s inquiries.

– The promise is fulfilled
It is not yet clear which bridge 42 million will go to. But Frps Bengt Rune Strifeldt tells NRK that they are not the ones who have misunderstood.
It also says that they have received the confirmations they need.
– It is not the Norwegian Public Roads Administration that will try to explain what the Storting has negotiated. They have not been part of the negotiations, he says.
Now he hopes that the Ministry of Transport will fulfill its promise.
– The Storting made a decision on the basis of this, and then it is also a duty of the Minister of Transport to follow up, says Strifeldt.
