Students can travel home for Christmas without being quarantined, but authorities advise them to take precautions and be careful.
The government recommends avoiding unnecessary travel both inside and outside the country. However, they say that travel may be considered necessary for some groups.
“This is especially true for vulnerable groups, singles, students, children who do not live so much with parents as with relatives who have few / no one to celebrate Christmas with,” they write in a statement.
Students and others traveling home for Christmas should take special care for the first ten days after arrival, in accordance with the advice already given. Quarantine is not imposed.

They emphasize that this mainly applies to affected areas.
– The concern in the coming weeks is especially related to foreigners who will visit their relatives in Norway at Christmas and Norwegian students and foreign workers who return home at Christmas, writes FHI.
Expect more local shoots
There are now significantly more contagious people in the country than this summer. Health authorities write that it is mainly due to domestic infection as a consequence of domestic activities. They are concerned that the contagious situation that Oslo finds itself in will eventually affect the national landscape.
– We expect many more local outbreaks in the coming weeks. The concern is particularly related to students traveling home from the Oslo area to other parts of the country.
At the same time, they write that the ability of municipalities to handle this has improved this fall.
