APS parliamentary representative Eigil Knutsen believes that the state budget should have had more to do with fighting the crown crisis. – It looks more like Jensen’s “morna KrF” than crisis management.

Storting representative Eigil Knutsen (Labor Party) believes that the government and FRP are failing layoffs and companies in the new state budget that was ready Tuesday night.

– After weeks of discussions, this divorce agreement ends with the government and the FRP agreeing to cheaper alcohol and snus, against the non-reduction of the refugee quota and aid, says Knutsen.

Taxes on alcohol will be reduced by ten percent and tax on snus by 25 percent.

In exchange for reducing taxes on alcohol, FRP leader Siv Jensen abandons the demand that Norway accept less than 3,000 quota refugees and accepts the full quota for government parties.

Knutsen believes the negotiations have not focused on what can be done for those who have been laid off or for companies that are struggling and on the brink of bankruptcy.

– This has been a rematch between FRP and the government on the problems that FRP lost when they were in government. The bill sends our children and grandchildren to the government to use the oil fund, Knutsen says.

– This looks more like Jensen’s “morna KRF” than crisis management.

– Drunken sailors

Knutsen emphasizes that we are in a job and health crisis, where nearly 200,000 are out of work. In addition, the health service is tested to the limit.

– Then one should hope that all the measures that come from the Storting aim to combat this crisis and help those who are struggling.

He believes it is a strange and expensive deal that does not respond to the biggest challenges Norway has.

– If it had been up to us, we would have preferred to choose to secure jobs, pay vacations to the laid-off and strengthen the health service.

UNSATISFIED: Une Bastholm (MDG) believes the government is using billions as drunken sailors. Photo: Frode Hansen

The leader of the ODM party, Une Bastholm, is very dissatisfied with the state budget, among other things when it comes to the climate.

– The government uses the billions as drunken sailors. Think of all we could have done for the environment, justice and green jobs with $ 22 billion. Now they are making it cheaper to buy a fossil car and spend two billion on tolls, rather than abandoning expensive roads. Create more pollution and climate change.

Only one thing makes her really happy, namely that the animal police are now spreading nationwide.

– But I am afraid that the police will not get enough resources for the work and will still have to prioritize cases of crimes against animals, which can often also be related to violence against people.

Persecuted Christians should be prioritized, even though the government is against it, Jensen said at the press conference.

Bastholm believes that conservatives, liberals, and conservatives now allow the FRP to “further abuse refugee policy.”

– It is the need for refugee protection that will determine who we receive, not whether one is Christian or Muslim. With today’s changes, asylum seekers will also have their lives on hold for longer and will fight even harder to reunite with their families. It is sad and heartbreaking.

– Tourism finds itself with a broken back

The Center Party’s fiscal policy spokesman, Sigbjørn Gjelsvik, also reacts to state budget priorities.

– The most incomprehensible thing is that the tourist VAT must be doubled now that the tourism industry has a setback.

He believes that tourism has an additional need for predictability over time during this period.

– What worries me most about this is that there are no new measures that guarantee predictability for employees and companies. Bankruptcies are announced and people lose their jobs every day.

SV’s fiscal policy spokesperson Kari Elisabeth Kaski believes it is a grim budget that came as the country is going through an economic crisis.

PRIORITIES: Kari Elisabeth Kaski (SV) is not satisfied with the government’s priorities. Photo: Terje Bringedal

– We have so many out of work and unsure of the future, that they will receive worse advice next year. Instead, tax cuts have been prioritized for those who have homes over 15 million, have large welfare cuts, and give more to welfare recipients.

– They are not doing enough to get us out of the crisis. They could save the nightlife industry, allow people who are out of work to get vacation pay next year, or spend billions to invest in new green jobs and fix the climate crisis. Instead, the FRP seems more concerned with making life more difficult for Kjell Ingolf Ropstad than with saving people’s jobs.

Red Deputy Leader Marie Sneve believes that the budget agreement is a betrayal of all those who now needed the government and the FRP to defend them.

– When nearly 200,000 are unemployed, while the government is scrapping schemes that secure people’s income and undermine organized working life, it’s a poor consolation with slightly cheaper beer and cheaper wine on the pole, says Sneve .

– The right shows that it cannot handle the unemployment crisis. We must fight unemployment, not the unemployed. Rødt will continue to work for specific crisis packages with measures for workers, employment and the environment. Here the government and the big established parties fail.
