Ørjan (25) found dead: – Investigated as a serious criminal act

Solum was found dead in the Steinsås mines outside Arendal on May 19, having been missing since March 25.

It was last observed at Bratthenget 29B at 17:50.

Police conducted physical measurements of base stations in the area around the Steinsås address and mines two weeks ago. This is so we can purposely work even harder to find out if anyone has been around Solum and where he was last seen, they write in a press release.

– We have now entered a phase where we see that some people are of special interest for further research. This means that police are investigating whether specific people are to blame for Solum’s death, says police lawyer Vanja Bruvoll.

Acquaintances

The police attorney tells Dagbladet that people know the police. He does not want to enter into any relationship, nor how many there are.

– We want to talk more with these when the time comes, says Bruvoll.

No one has so far the status of a suspect or has been arrested in the case.

– I do not go into specific investigation steps, but it is the sum of so much of the technique that we have received so far, and no less of the interrogation, alibi verification and teledata reading, which means that we are left with some people who interest us especially .

New studies in the mines

Police are still working on three hypotheses in the case, he says.

– But what is different is that the hypothesis that something criminal has happened has been reinforced. We do not call this a homicide investigation, but the investigation has shown that we are left with a reinforced hypothesis that he died as a result of a criminal act.

On Tuesday, police will carry out further forensic investigations at the mines where Solum was found, in addition to using a drone in the area.

– It is in the nature of things that here we believe that there are several answers, which we hope to find.

The mines where Solum was found are very close to where he was last seen alive on March 25. It still took time for the police to enter the mines as they are old and there is talk of demanding terrain, police told Dagbladet in May.

In September, police said the autopsy report showed Solum likely drowned.
