Just under a week to go until Mustafa Hasan’s (18) departure deadline. He is tired and just wants to sleep. But the last few days will be spent making as much “noise” as possible.

– I probably look exceptionally well under the circumstances, says Mustafa Hasan.

VG meets him at a studio in Nydalen, where he is shooting a music video for his latest song. Here, he and the rest of the gang will be up late at night, and on Tuesday he will be ready to perform “Good Morning Norway.”

The 18-year-old, who is scheduled to be shipped out of the country in less than a week, wears a suit with a bow tie and stands energetically in front of the camera and raps to music from mobile speakers. But the red bull and the dark circles under his eyes reveal it.

– I’ve started to get really tired. The days … In a way, they are getting closer. I feel like my heart beats faster just talking about it now, he says.

– That is scary. I’m scared and it hurts, something like that. At the same time, I am hopeful that the Norwegian people will see that it is not okay.

After four years in the country, Hasan’s family had their temporary residence permit revoked after it emerged that his mother had given the wrong nationality when they arrived in Norway in 2008.

Today only Hasan and one of his brothers remain.

But in mid-November, Hasan was informed that the Board of Immigration Appeals (UNE) had made a final decision that he too must leave the country before December 7, after 13 years in Norway.

Hasan says that at first he just wanted to lie down and do nothing. Just “give a fuck about everything and everyone.”

– But then I think of all those who had killed to have the same opportunity as me, even though I’m having a hard time in Norway. Therefore, I thought that if I give up now, I will do nothing but hurt myself, he says.

As he raps for the camera, his friends sit behind the scenes and comment.

– I don’t want to play delicious in any way. I’m not here for that, Hasan replies to one of the comments.

– I have to be honest.

Since the decision was known, many have become involved in the case. I already had a support group, but suddenly Wild Strangers showed up at the fundraiser too, and even more donated money to the fundraiser. The main politicians showed their support on social media.

– All this happens, by itself, right in front of my eyes. It shows that even though Norway has treated me badly, in a way, there is still hope and a light in the Norwegian people.

He says that his closest friends mobilize in many ways. Among other things, making a short film.

– It shows that it is not age that has anything to say, nor power. It’s just the initiative.

Behind the scenes is Arian Asgharzadeh, behind a table adorned with bags of Sørlandschips, Christmas sodas and battery boxes. He is a good friend of Hasan, but also a musical collaborator. They have been together every day for the last few weeks.

– Since you told me you had to go, I’ve thought about it every day. What can I do to help you? To spread the word, so that we can make your dear son stay here, Asgharzadeh laughs.

– I only have people to share as much as I can. And he has been by his side all the way.

– you are not alone

If Hasan is sent to Jordan, it will be the brothers who will receive him. According to Hasan, they earn between 50 and 100 crowns every day. You don’t understand how they will be able to support or help you get an education.

– Suddenly they will receive a young man of 18 years. Take care of him, pay for him, educate him. Most likely in an international school, since I don’t know the language. I become illiterate, he says.

– I have been in school in Norway for 13 years and I am good at school. After 13 years of hard work, I will lose the opportunity for a future. It’s very scary.

FRIEND: Mohammed Ismail is hopeful about the commitment he sees for Hasan on social media. Photo: Gabriel Aas Skålevik

His friend Mohammed Ismail arrived in Norway at the same time that Hasan and his parents met. Ismail was not supposed to be here tonight, but suddenly Hasan was standing at the door just as Ismail’s mother had dinner ready. So they ate together before going to the studio.

– He has experienced many things at a young age, says Ismail about Hasan.

– There is not much else we can do except hope it goes well and support and share it as much as possible. He’s very good at singing, at least I think. So we share it as a rapper, but at the same time with his case, and then we get a lot of attention.

Ismail believes that Hasan will be allowed to stay, as many are after him.

– He is not alone, although he does not have a Norwegian passport, says Ismail.

– What gives me hope is that everyone shows love. And you deserve it. You haven’t done anything wrong, it’s not your fault.

The two never meet. Fate only brings them together in everyday life, Ismail says. But in the next few days, he will do what he can to spend as much time with Hasan as possible.

ONLY DAYS LEFT: Hasan’s lawyer, Nicolai Skjerdal, has requested an extension of the exit deadline. They have not yet received a response to the request. Photo: Gabriel Aas Skålevik

Going to sue the state

Through the fundraising campaign, Hasan has received NOK 600,000. You can’t understand why people want to spend money on someone they don’t know.

– Not common, is it? But it shows that people see a major problem in the country and choose to set aside time to pay money to maintain it. Not only because of me, but also because there are many other children in the same situation who are struggling. And that he may be the boy here who has been in Norway the longest; perhaps it can be an example of how bad the jurisprudence is in Norway.

– What are you going to spend the money on?

– Demand, respond quickly.

On Sunday, it emerged that Hasan and his lawyer, Nicolai Skjerdal, are planning a lawsuit against the state. Hasan says he has a feeling that he has not been properly evaluated. That it has only been a name on a sheet of paper.

– Have you met those who have made the decision that you should leave the country?

– Never. People who don’t know who I am have always treated me. Who has only heard what my mother has done, or has read it on paper.

– It’s true, he lied. But why does it affect me?
