The White House confirms that the Stanford University neuroradiologist, who previously had no experience with community medicine and infectious diseases, has withdrawn from temporary engagement. Atlas himself confirmed the decision on Twitter.

Atlas was hired as a coronary counselor this summer, and he immediately ended up on a collision course with leading infection control counselors like Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx because he opposed strict coronary measures.

Atlas, among other things, downplayed the importance of face masks in preventing the spread of the virus, and in October Twitter removed a message from Atlas that they described as misleading.
