The nuclear physicist was killed Friday in an assassination attempt in Absard. It is located 70 kilometers east of the Iranian capital, Tehran. It is not known who was behind it. Iranian leaders say Israel was behind this. Several Western intelligence sources believe it too.
Israel has not made any official comment on the killing.

According to the official “Iran Press News Agency”, weapons produced in Israel have been found at the site of the murder of the nuclear physicist.

Fakhrizadeh ran a military nuclear program in Iran in the early 2000s. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it was closed in 2003.
But according to Israel and the United States, Iran still has plans to develop nuclear weapons. The country’s leadership denies it. They say that nuclear energy is for civil use.
The IAEA reported in early November that Iran now has 12 times more enriched uranium than the country should have under the international nuclear deal.
