Bamba’s recipe for success: – I quit football. I was laying on the couch with sandwiches and junk food

Daouda Bamba has had a frustrating season for Brann.

After 24 games, the Ivorian stood with six league goals. It all peaked when he tested positive for the coronavirus in early November, forcing him to isolate himself.

Bamba sent former coach Aalesund to OBOS league

After this, it has been an energetic and goal-oriented Bamba who has started high for Brann. In the last two games, the former KBK player has scored four of his total of ten goals this season. Three of them arrived in Aalesund on Saturday.

The success factor is simple according to himself. Stop thinking about football and eat a lot of garbage.

– When I was sick, I told my boyfriend that I shouldn’t live like an elite athlete. I decided not to watch football, but to eat sandwiches and all the junk food I could. The two weeks I was away I did not watch football or think about football. I quit football, maybe that was what I needed, Bamba tells TV 2 after the Aalesund game.

The Ivorian scored three goals against his former boss Lars Arne Nilsen. The three goals ensured that the former coach has to take the hard road to the Obos league with Aalesund.

When the breaking of the Bamba crown became a reality, Kåre Ingebrigtsen declared the following to Bergens Tidende:

– You can clear your head a bit, Ingebrigtsen told BT.

The last two games indicate that this is exactly what the forward needed.

Bamba now has ten goals this season. For the first time since 2012, Brann has a player with a double-digit number of goals in the league game. At the time, it was Kim Ojo’s eleven goals that sent them over the ten-point mark.

– You get paid for the effort

Brann’s coach, Kåre Ingebrigtsen, was of course a happy man after Aalesund’s victory. After a particularly difficult start to Brann’s career, Ingebrigtsen has led Brann to six points in less than a week.

All of Brann’s equipment must be quarantined after two positive tests.

Three points against former club Rosenborg and three points against the man he followed at Brann. The victories have kept Brann from the worst relegation battle.

– I think we should keep the limited focus that we have. We will definitely not stop scoring points. We will try to choose something with us in all the remaining matches, Ingebrigtsen tells TV 2.

Like Brann’s fans, they are very satisfied with Bamba’s contribution in recent games.

– Daouda has had two good games. You get paid for the effort and work you have done. The forward depends on a group that creates opportunities. The last two games we had a good team, and then it was easier for him, says Kåre Ingebrigtsen on TV 2 and continues:

– The key is probably that the collective is helping to give more freedom to Bamba and (Robert) Taylor. In open play, both of them are extremely good. They create a lot for themselves, says Kåre Ingebrigtsen.

Aalesund boss Lars Arne Nilsen was also impressed with his former student Daouda Bamba, but was not surprised.

– He works hard and has done it all the time. Today, Daouda proves that he is a class leader, Nilsen tells TV 2.

Brann, threatened to descend, surprised the Rosenborg: – It was a pain
