At 5:19 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Agder police reported an accident with explosions in an industrial area of ​​Mandal.

– It was a planned explosion that took place and, in connection with the explosion, some rock massifs came out of the area and hit a commercial building, says operations manager Tom Einar Gausdal to TV 2.

The operations manager estimates that the stones flew a few hundred meters through the air. The Mandal Bil car dealership is located in the commercial building that was affected.

– I sat in the office and worked with the car sales. We had been warned that they were going to explode, and then it crashed properly. Then a stone came into the office where he was sitting, General Manager Espen Regevik at Mandal Bil tells TV 2.

Regevik fell to the ground when it crashed.

– I don’t know exactly why, but it was on reflex. It was a shocking experience, Regevik says.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. But several cars were damaged when the stone about 10 centimeters in diameter flew into the room.

– We have damage to 20 cars, says Regevik.

– What kind of cars have broken down?

– It’s Volvo, Skoda, Nissan, Audi, Porsche … We sell cars in all price ranges, and many have been injured, says Regevik.

Investigating the explosion accident

The general manager is very happy that no one was hurt.

– These are accidents that can happen when you are doing explosions. It is a very serious company that does this, so it was an accident that can happen one in a thousand times, says Regevik.

Police have been on the scene and are opening a case after the incident.

– We will investigate what was the cause of the explosion accident and if anything has been done that is not in accordance with the regulations, says operations director Gausdal.
