The final of the women’s cup would finally be returned to the Ullevaal stadium in 2020. Now the NFF confirms that the match between Vålerenga and Lillestrøm will be moved.
The cup final was moved for the first time from December 6 to 13. Nils Fisketjønn, Competition Director for the Norwegian Football Association, now confirms that he will also move from Ullevaal Stadium.
– The Ullevaal stadium has been informed that there will be no cup final there. This is due to two reasons: the tire and the danger of destroying it, and the facilities. The wardrobes in the entrance area are now being rebuilt. We were supposed to run it with hotels and force rooms back to the original date, but now that it has been moved, it will be difficult, Fisketjønn tells VG.
On September 10, the news came that only women would play the cup in 2020. Then, the NFF reported in a press release that on the women’s side, the 20 best teams in the country (Top Series and 1st division) will maintain their annual tradition. , while this year’s cup final moves to Ullevaal.
The Women’s Cup final was last played at the Ullevaal Stadium in the period from 1995 to 2005. Since then, the final has moved to the stadiums in and around the capital, except in 2013, where the final was held. at the national stadium.
Vålerenga Toppfotball Managing Director Morten Grødahl says they understand there will be changes around the cup final.
