One reader wondered:
– How dangerous is it to go to Oslo?
– What is the risk is to meet contagious people. And then it all depends on who you know.
– It is not necessarily a major risk to visit relatives living in Oslo at Christmas, but it depends on the situation around those you are visiting. It is very important to take a phone call in advance, check that everyone is healthy and that no one has a job where many people are quarantined. That kind of risk assessment needs to be done by the people themselves, Nakstad says.
Being alone at christmas
– As the situation is now, there are many who may be forced to be alone at Christmas. Is there hope that this can change in time?
– At Christmas it is very common to get together with your extended family, relatives and friends, and many people travel for Christmas to the place where they grew up. Then there will be a little more people than you live with as usual. We expect that infection figures will continue to fall towards Christmas in most municipalities in Norway, so that you can return home with a clear conscience, in a safe way in terms of infection control, without contributing to the further spread of the infection. says Nakstad.

He continues:
– But it is probably important to think, especially the week before Christmas, that you have to be very careful when visiting places with a lot of people, where you can be infected, to be absolutely sure that you will not end up in quarantine at Christmas.
Meeting with the family
– Is it better if the elderly and grandparents are left alone on Christmas Eve, even if they are alone, or is it better if they join the family celebration and then run the risk of getting infected?
– You have to be especially careful if you have a lot of grandchildren, and if any of those grandchildren have a cold, or if they go to a school with a lot of infection, then you have to think about it and be very careful, says Nakstad.
– But that the elderly can be with their family is very important to many. We won’t advise against it, but we recommend that you do it sensibly and think about good infection control.
New Year Eve
– Can you invite friends to the cabin on Christmas Eve and, for example, celebrate New Year’s Eve?
– The general rules that apply now are to limit as much contact as possible with others and not to invite too many people to a house or a cabin. It is also important at Christmas. And then it is important that if you travel, you do not have more contact than necessary with others on the trip. Most people drive their own car into a cab, and that carries little risk. And then it is important that you are with the same people in a cabin (…) and not for many others.
– In any case, large parties with too many participants are not recommended, even if it is New Year’s Eve. And it doesn’t matter where you are in Norway.
Moves to the block
Nakstads Jul
– How are you going to celebrate Christmas, Espen?
– I, like most of the others, feel that Christmas often comes very quickly. I haven’t had time to think so much about Christmas. I suppose there will be a Christmas celebration here in Oslo, in the usual way, not with so many presents either. Details have yet to be added, Nakstad says.
And continues:
– I hope the infection rates are lower around Christmas, so you can invite someone other than just those you live with. But I think I’ll have to wait and see a bit before I decide.
– Can I go to the Trysil ski center if it is open?
– Yes, having outdoor activities has a very small risk of infection. If you make sure you have a good distance in the tail of the lift, as many ski centers practice, then you do not come into close contact with others, you are outdoors and you keep a good distance.
New infected
