With a high fever, he is taken to a basement below the hospital.

Dr. Rune Larsen understands very well what is going to happen.

It will be executed by boiling.

The infection is severe. Rune Arild Larsen realizes that he must get to the hospital. He is himself the chief anesthesia physician at Førde Central Hospital and an Air Ambulance physician.

Right now he is in his hometown of Bergen running an errand.

With a high fever, he is admitted to Haukeland University Hospital. A porter rolls him in for an ultrasound in the X-ray department. On the way to the elevator, he begins to shake. He tells the doorman “if you haven’t seen a frostbite before then you see it now”.

In the elevator, he has another seizure, but also a feeling of unease.

Then it intensifies.

– A minute or a half after they took me out of the elevator, that’s when I realized that I had been misled.

The misery had begun when he drove from Førde to get a bed for his daughter in Bergen.
