Two weeks have passed since Joe Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election, but Trump has yet to accept the result.
Instead, Trump’s lawyers have filed a series of lawsuits in various tip states, where they claim to be able to prove various types of voter fraud. The vast majority have been rejected.
On Sunday, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit that sought to stop approval of the Pennsylvania election result. The ruling states that Trump’s lawyers made “baseless arguments and speculative accusations without evidence.”
“These accusations are like Frankenstein’s monster, arbitrarily tied together,” Judge Matthew Brann wrote according to Reuters.
Former New Jersey Governor and Trump adviser Chris Christie is now cracking down on the president and his lawyers and advisers.
– The president has had the opportunity to go to court. If you have evidence of voter fraud, you must provide it. “The behavior of Trump’s lawyers has been an embarrassment to the nation,” Christie told ABC News.
Outrageous behavior
Before the weekend, Trump’s attorneys held a lengthy press conference in which Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell made several allegations of an electoral conspiracy involving China, the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and financier George Soros.
– This is scandalous behavior from a lawyer. They make allegations of fraud, but they won’t bring it to court. I have been one of the president’s supporters. I voted for him twice. But elections have consequences, and we can’t keep pretending something happened that didn’t happen, says Christie.
On Sunday, Trump’s campaign staff came out and emphasized that Powell is not working for the president.
Sidney Powell practices law on his own. She is not part of Trump’s legal team. She is also not the president’s personal attorney, “the statement said.
Just over a week ago, Trump himself named Powell as one of his attorneys.
– Stop playing golf
According to CBS News, several Republicans have had enough after the last press conference.
Following the rejection of Pennsylvania’s lawsuit, Biden and Kamala Harris received a formal congratulation from Republican State Senator Pat Toomey.
“President Trump has now used all reasonable legal opportunities to challenge the results of the Pennsylvania election,” he said.
The Republican Governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan, recognized Biden’s electoral victory on the same day as the main television channels in the United States.
He tells CNN that the United States is about to “look like a banana republic.”
Hogan has previously had a feud with Trump over handling the crown pandemic and said he is ashamed of the leadership of the Republican Party.
– If it had done its job, US governors would not have had to struggle to find evidence in the midst of a pandemic. Stop playing golf and admit defeat, Hogan writes on Twitter.
Appoint critical senators
Journalist Carl Bernstein, known for the Watergate scandal in the 1970s, has written a book on the Trump presidency.
He claims to know that 21 Republican senators have repeatedly expressed “extreme contempt” for Trump and his ability to govern.
Monday morning he named everyone Twitter, and criticized them for not speaking in public.
Several of Trump’s former employees have also criticized the president.
Trump’s former security adviser John Bolton claims Joe Biden will be installed as president in January.
“The big question is how much damage Trump can do before that happens,” Bolton told CNN.
He believes Trump is now more concerned with creating chaos and confusion to show political power, noting that the president’s attorneys have lost nearly every lawsuit they have filed.
– Right now, Trump is throwing rocks out the windows. He’s the political counterpart to a street riot, Bolton says.
Bolton’s predecessor HR McMaster tells CBS that it is America’s enemies who benefit from Trump’s attempts to change the election.
Both Bolton and McMaster were fired by Trump.
