Shortly after Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappeared from the couple’s house at Sloraveien 4 in Lørenskog, Tom Hagen (70) began to write observations, thoughts and theories about what may have happened.
Hagen’s defender, Svein Holden, confirms to NRK that several reports have been sent to the police.
One of the reports that has been sent indicates that the person or persons who entered the home on the day of the disappearance may have been surprised that the couple started the day an hour later than usual.
The defender tells NRK that Hagen filed a report on this as early as April 2019, a year before he was arrested and charged in the case.
Tom Hagen denies having anything to do with the disappearance of his wife.
Light on the catwalk
In late October, the police announced that one or more suspicious vehicles were moving toward Anne-Elisabeth and Tom Hagen’s home twice on the morning of the day of the disappearance in 2018.
The police hope that the observations of the witnesses can clarify whether the cars have something to do with the disappearance or not.
As reported to NRK, the observation of the car that the police recently announced was not known to Hagen when he submitted the reports.
Both observations were made before Tom Hagen left for work at 9 o’clock.
– In our opinion, there is undoubtedly a real possibility that it was the perpetrators who used this car and that they waited for Tom Hagen to leave the house, defender Svein Holden of the Hjort law firm tells NRK.
Tom Hagen is charged with murder or complicity in the murder of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, and police believe the case bears the mark of a clearly planned hoax. His defender believes that the reports of delay and use of the car indicate otherwise.
– This shows that it is possible that Tom Hagen was right in his assessments around this, emphasizing that this is not a matter of deception, but an attempt on his part to help the police in every way possible, says Holden .
Police have previously confirmed that one of their main theories is that Anne-Elisabeth Hagen was transported in a car and that several car owners in the area have been questioned.
Suspicious recognition
In several of the reports that have been sent to the police, the 70-year-old man is said to have expressed that the perpetrators may have spied on the couple in advance and used a car for the kidnapping.
Hagen describes the area from the walkway to the house as a natural patch where the possibility of being seen is small.
The day started an hour later
Tom Hagen, who describes himself as a routine person, believes the kidnappers were surprised that he went to work an hour later than usual.
– We changed the circadian rhythm for an hour, because we were at the theater the night before with some friends. When we got home, we sat for a little over an hour and talked about what we had experienced, before going to bed, Tom Hagen said in an NRK interview published on October 31 of this year.
The husband said that he got up almost an hour later than usual on the day of the disappearance.
– I think I got up at 08.15. Then I went out to get a newspaper, drank my two cups of coffee, read the newspaper, and ate some. And then I went to work around 09. Lisbeth sat down and read, Hagen told NRK in the same interview.
The journey from the couple’s Sloraveien home to Tom Hagen’s workplace doesn’t take many minutes, and the 70-year-old says his car was registered on a surveillance camera when he arrived at work shortly after 9 a.m. point.
According to this explanation, Tom Hagen was in bed when the first car arrived at the home early in the morning on October 31, 2018.
This is what the surveillance camera recorded:
- At 07.56 on the day of the disappearance: What the police assume is a car going up the walkway, just 50 meters from the house to Hagen. The light goes away a few seconds after the house. According to Hagen, he had not stood up at the time.
- Exactly one hour later, at 08.56: Once again, what the police assume is a vehicle. He appears to be driving back to the house, the same way.
According to NRK, Tom Hagen has always believed that the person or persons who abducted Anne-Elisabeth Hagen could have transported her from the home and down a path leading from the property.
This trail runs to the foot of the runway where observation of the car was made. In the reports, Hagen writes that it will take a little time to transport a person out of the house and into a waiting car parked at the end of the walkway, and that it will be possible to leave the area and onto the highway in a few minutes.
I wanted two years later
Assistant attorney for the missing Anne-Elisabeth Hagen criticizes the fact that the police have waited almost two years to publish the observation of the car from the day of the disappearance and the search for witnesses.
– I am critical of the fact that the police do not come out with this type of information before. As time passes, we know that memory is lost. I think it’s fatal in the sense that important information is lost from a relevant moment, says attorney Gard A. Lier, who is an assistant attorney to Anne-Elisabeth Hagen.
Police say they realized as early as 2019 that surveillance video showed there was something on the catwalk. They have done rebuilds and they think there are cars that you see in the photos.
– Why haven’t you dated this before?
– At an initial stage we have said that we want information from those who may have seen something on the day of the disappearance around Sloraveien 4. It has been difficult to look at the photos whether there are cars or not, and the video material is so bad that no We see it.You can tell color, type of car or see other characteristics, says police inspector Agnes Beate Hemiø in the East Police District to NRK.
According to the police, between 30 and 40 people work full time on the case. Hemiø says that the police will obtain new information and process the large amount of material that has already been collected in the case.
– We are investigating the case extensively. We have spent a lot of time on various hypotheses and it remains true that also, as mentioned, we focused on, and did not exclude, the hint of the kidnapping, the police inspector tells NRK.
– It’s a relief to me that my reports can now be viewed in a different light and used for something, Tom Hagen tells NRK.
